Bruce’s Point of View Optical Honors Area Combat Veterans
 
Joplin, Missouri- David “Bruce” Cuthbert and his staff at Bruce’s Point of View are pleased to announce the launch of a free eyewear program for all combat veterans through their Joplin location. Whether assisting veterans transitioning from military service to civilian life, or assisting those who have been back in the community for a number of years, Cuthbert feels very strongly about honoring them all for their service to our country.

“I have been involved with the VFW on Wall Street for a number of years, I know a lot of vets, and on occasion, I know someone needs glasses,” Cuthbert said. “If they joined the service and fought for my freedom, well, this is a small way that I can give back.”

Any member of the VFW will automatically qualify for one free pair of glasses (lenses and frames) per year, exam not included. While not a vet himself, Cuthbert sees the VFW as a vital part of the greater Joplin community and tries to support many of their outreach efforts. “The VFW helps the community quite a bit - everything from free food and clothing to fundraising and that sort of thing. They are a group that throughout the year works to benefit the community, and I want to help them too,” Cuthbert said.

While many area veterans have the option of traveling to the Veteran’s clinics and hospitals in Mt. Vernon or Fayetteville to get their eyes checked, there are a limited number of frames available and often the waiting period between new pairs can be lengthy. “I am offering a whole variety of frames, a good variety that fit every look. And really, new glasses once a year are nice, you wear them out and new glasses just make you fell good.

Cuthbert operated Bruce’s Point of View Optical since 1996, and each year helps thousands of area residents see things clearly.
